A Message from Tedd

Why am I seeking re-election? I am running for State Representative because I believe that I can help Pennsylvania move forward and have. I want our state to be a place where our children have the opportunity to find well-paying jobs, buy a decent home and be able to educate and raise their families. I believe that Pennsylvania needs to create a business climate where business owners are able to hire new employees and thrive. As your State Representative, I want to continue to work with businesses and not against them by fighting to keep taxes and regulations low.

As an Assistant District Attorney in Mercer County and a partner with Bartholomew, Mudrinich & Nesbit law firm, I have represented the government, individuals and businesses in state and federal courts throughout Western Pennsylvania. I see the strain placed on county and local governments to provide necessary services. As a professional business owner with employees, I understand the struggle of trying to cover a payroll in today’s economy. I have friends and family members who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. I worked full time while attending law school and I understand how people are struggling in this down economy. I believe that we can do better. Government does not create jobs – businesses create jobs and government needs to stay out of the way. We need to fully fund education, but do so in new and innovative ways. We need to ensure that business and industry has trained employees to compete in the global economy.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and was raised with the traditional values of the area. I moved back home and chose to raise my children here. I want them to have the opportunity to make the same choice. I understand how important it is that we move the economy forward so that the next generation does not have to move away to find a good job. I am pro-life and support the second amendment rights of gun owners. I want to continue to fight for and represent those interests and continue protect the values of our 8th District in Harrisburg.

Thank you for your support.

PA HOUSE DISTRICT 8 – Rep. Tedd C. Nesbit Seeks Re-election

February 13, 2016

Nesbit Announces Re-Election Bid

Grove City, PA – Rep. Tedd Nesbit (R-8) is seeking a second term in the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2016.

“It’s been a privilege to represent citizens from Mercer County and Butler County during the past 14 months, and I want to keep fighting for the people of this district,” said Nesbit. “We have a governor who is more interested in powerful special interests and what big cities want than the needs of the entire state, and we need to keep strong advocates for rural Pennsylvania in Harrisburg.”

Nesbit was elected in 2014. After being sworn in in January 2015, he has been appointed to and serves on the following standing House committees: Judiciary, Gaming Oversight, Children and Youth and Human Services.

Raised in Mercer County, Nesbit earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science at Florida State University, where he participated in the Marine Corps ROTC Scholarship Program. After college, he worked as a television journalist in Columbia, S.C. Upon returning to the Grove City area in the 1990s, he was employed as a licensed truck driver by a regional trucking company in Brookfield, Ohio.

While working full time, Nesbit earned a law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. In 2004, he graduated magna cum laude and was named the alumni association distinguished student of his graduating class. Following law school, Nesbit spent a year clerking for the Honorable John C. Reed in the Mercer Court of Common Pleas. He has spent over a decade as an attorney and during that time he also served as an assistant district attorney in Mercer County.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Nesbit has been a long-time board member of the Grove City United Way, including a term as president; an elder and youth choir director at the East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City; a coach for the Grove City Youth Soccer Association and the Grove City Little League baseball; and the head coach and board president of the Slippery Rock Community Swim team.

The 8th District consists of the Butler County townships of Brady, Center, Cherry, Clay, Franklin, Marion, Mercer, Muddycreek and Worth, and the boroughs of Harrisville, Portersville, West Liberty and West Sunbury; and the Mercer County townships of Coolspring, Deer Creek, Fairview, Findley, French Creek, Jackson, Lake, Liberty, Mill Creek, New Vernon, Perry, Pine, Sandy Creek, Sandy Lake, Springfield, Wolf Creek and Worth and the boroughs of Fredonia, Grove City, Jackson Center, Mercer, New Lebanon, Sandy Lake, Sheakleyville and Stoneboro.

Thank You District Eight

I would like to take a moment to thank all of my supporters, campaign team, friends, and my family for both supporting me and electing me to be the Republican candidate for Pennsylvania’s 8th Legislative District. I am honored to be your Republican nominee and look forward to the opportunity to serve the great people of the 8th District in the near future. The Republican primary race in our district was both exciting and remarkable, and I’d like to recognize both Herman Bauer and Jeff Black for their desire to serve our community as well. As we approach the November election, I look forward to getting to know more of you, your concerns, and learning more about the best ways to represent you all in Harrisburg.

In particular, I would like to recognize my outstanding campaign team and their efforts on my behalf – all of them are local residents who put in countless hours of volunteering and campaigning – I am humbled to have such great friends. Finally, to my wife Shannon and family, THANK YOU for your non-stop support and belief in me.
